Four families were displaced in a five-alarm fire that burned a triple-decker on Thursday night.
The fire at 41 Evelyn Street in Mattapan displaced fifteen people. The fire started at the rear unit.
Five firefighters were hospitalized with heat exhaustion, shoulder, and finger injuries. Their injuries are not life threatening.
Fire officials announced around 8:30 p.m. that the heavy fire was out, but that crews were continuing to search for hot spots.
The initial damage estimate is $500,000.
