3-Alarm Boston Blaze Causes $1M in Damage

A 3-alarm fire in a single-story building containing multiple businesses in Boston's Mattapan neighborhood early Tuesday morning has caused an estimated $1 million in damage.

Officials say firefighters responded to reports of a fire at the building on Blue Hill Avenue and Woodrow Street just before 5 a.m.

The fire happened in a section of the building that contained a large industrial laundry room with many washers and dryers.

No one was injured in the blaze, according to fire officials.

As of 7 a.m., Blue Hill Avenue was shut down between Morton Street and Johnston Road.

Authorities are now investigating how and why the fire began.
