Boston starts cleaning up after snowstorm; snowy and slick roads in some areas
From Boston to Worcester, people woke up to a snow-covered state. Leominster got hit with about 5 inches of snow, and the jackpot area was Holden with 6 inches. The quick-moving system pushed through overnight, limiting its impact. The snow has stopped, but it’s still on the ground. And it’s going to be important to get that snow out of…

We’re entering a cold but dry pattern for the week. Passing clouds are likely Sunday evening and Monday from a winter storm that’s nearby. Wild winter ahead? Here's what the First Alert Weather Team thinks is coming
We have an odd relationship with winter forecasts. On one hand, we know that it’s impossible to pin down three months of howling winds, snowstorms, freakish warmups, bitter blasts and an early/late arrival to spring, but we still want something — anything — that could give us a hint at what’s to come. Perhaps it gives us something to...

Here's how the recent drought could impact our winter forecast
Our eyes are peeled looking for any drop of rain. We’re sitting in our ninth week of drought and chomping at the bit for it any sign of rain. And at this point, it will take rain of significance to break the drought. Which would mean more than six inches of a soaking rain that would need to span...
