Why did the Emmys happen in January?
In short, because of the writers and actors' strikes. The original 2023 Primetime Emmys were planned for Sept. 18, but they were postponed in July amid the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which have now ended.

The awards celebrated their 75th anniversary with a slightly updated statuette inspired by Halley's Comet. The base features a simple '75' inscription. It's one of the few changes to the iconic award since its debut in 1948.
The Emmys recognized writers, actors and all those who contributed to TV excellence between June 1, 2022, and May 31, 2023.
