The Martha’s Vineyard African American Film Festival returns for the 20th year. Kwani caught up with Adrian Holmes, who plays Uncle Phil in the remake of "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air", called "Bel-Air", now streaming on Peacock TV. She also spoke to Bobby Brown about his documentary BIOGRAPHY: BOBBY BROWN.
Holmes explained why the festival is so important, “The more places we can have festivals, the more exposure we get… having it here in Martha's Vineyard is just, it's just perfection. It's such a special, special place," he says.

Holmes also went on to talk about Black excellence and how “Bel-Air” ties into that. “It feels good to be a part of a narrative that sheds a positive light on the landscape… we plant seeds for important conversations," he said.

Bobby Brown, the founder of the R&B group New Edition, also spent some time on the island to discuss his documentary. The Roxbury native has been in the public eye since the late 1970's and as one of the executive producers, this project was a form of therapy for him.
Brown explained, "Things just keep happening. You know, I think just like I said, it's therapeutic for me to be able to get up. I'll get out all the cobwebs, you know, all of the things that I've been through in my life. I feel that being able to talk about it in and see it helps me. You know, through my journey."
