Driver Critically Injured in Fiery East Boston Crash

One victim was taken to a local burn center with life-threatening injuries

One person was sent to a hospital after a crash in East Boston.

One person suffered life-threatening injuries in a serious multi-vehicle crash in East Boston on Friday morning.

The crash was reported before 7 a.m. on the McClellan Highway northbound. A photo from the scene showed the burned out wreckage of one vehicle.

Aerial images from NBC10 Boston's Sky Ranger helicopter showed a large area of the roadway blocked off.

Traffic around the area is reportedly very slow.

Witnesses told NBC10 Boston that they saw the driver of one of the car's get out and drag the driver of the other car, who was on fire, from their vehicle.

"The other friend took the other kid out of the car and he was on fire, rolling on the grass. It was really bad," said Tony Portillo.

"It looked pretty devastating," another witness said. "It looked like a vehicle that had been in a war zone. It was all completely burned."

Boston EMS confirmed one person was taken to a local burn center.

About 2,000 customers were temporarily without power in the area of the crash, according to Eversource.
