A car could be seen riddled with bullet holes in the windshield and the driver’s side window.

"I was getting ready to go to the store," said Michael Mahoney. "I  heard a couple of shots, sounded like a machine gun."

Police found two women with serious injuries inside an SUV at Lisbon Street and Englewood Avenue.

"This kind of thing is unusual for the city in general," said Worcester Police Lt. Sean Murtha. “This is a very violent act."

Investigators have not said if the two women are related.

"To be honest with you I’ll be up throughout the night and won't be able to sleep," said neighborhood resident Maurren Morales. "This is very unsettling to have something like this happen on this street."

Neighbors say typically the street is packed with children in the middle of the afternoon.

"Scary that you got to worry about getting shot in your own neighborhood," said Mahoney.

So far, no arrests have been made.

"My concern is where are they," said Morales. "What other damage are they causing to somebody else’s family? It would be nice to have them caught quickly and brought to justice."

Police have not released any possible motive for the crime.

Authorities also did not give any details on the severity of the victims' injuries.

Police say the incident is under investigation.
