Four people pleaded not guilty a slew of charges Tuesday morning in connection to an alleged armed robbery and attempted murder of a man in Massachusetts.
Twenty-four-year-old Xavier Frederick of Stoughton, 24-year-old Leonard Ward of Stoughton, 20-year-old Ephraim Hunter of Millis and 24-year-old Devin Connolly of Canton are being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing after being arraigned in Wrentham District Court.
Authorities say the defendants used a hammer and a snow brush in the assault.
Police in Millis say they got a call of an assault in progress in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Stony Brook Drive just before 1 a.m.
A van was allegedly stopped nearby with the defendants inside along with a hammer police say was used in the attack along with a shoe belonging to the victim, the victim's pants and some blood near the door. Police say the victim was found unconscious in the back seat of the car of the person who called 9-1-1.
The victim was flown to a Boston hospital; authorities say he's expected to survive his injuries.
The defendants next court appearance is March 9.
