Diplo’s "Mad Decent Block Party" music festival scheduled to take place at Gillette Stadium this month has been abruptly canceled, the stadium announced Wednesday.
Gillette Stadium tweeted the event was canceled “due to circumstances beyond our control.”
Festival organizers added: “Putting this event on in the way that it was envisioned has become impossible.”
"All parties involved have agreed that moving forward would be a disservice to fans and artists alike, and cancellation is in everyone's best interest.”
The cancellation came as a surprise to a father and daughter from Mexico City who had planned to attend.
Guillermo Torres booked plane tickets, hotel and concert tickets to take his 13-year-old daughter and his wife to the event. The girl is heartbroken.
"The first reaction was to get a little bit mad with me, so then I showed her the tweet," Torres said. "She started to cry."

The event — known as the Super Mega Ultra Giant Mad Decent Block Party Festival — was scheduled for July 20-21 and had promised to be a “music event unlike anything.”
DJ and music producer Diplo along with Billie Eilish, Miguel and Major Lazer were set to be the headliners. Event organizers also promised a giant bounce house, go-karting and paintball.
Promoters said all fans who purchased a ticket can expect a full refund. The refund will be credited to the original method of payment within two weeks, organizers said.
Still, Torres' overall cost for travel and lodging is over $3,000.
"For now, it's more expensive for us to cancel the trip because of the fees that you have to pay for the cancellation and all that," he said. "So we are still going there."
