A Massachusetts police sergeant killed while responding to a call in Weymouth last summer has been honored by his brothers and sisters in blue.
A bronze plaque was placed on the wall Tuesday at the entrance to the Weymouth Police Department Library in honor of Sgt. Michael Chesna.
The Chesna family was on hand for the special dedication as well as to view Chesna's locker which has now been forever memorialized behind glass.
Chesna, a five-year veteran of the department, was responding to a report of an erratic driver near South Shore Hospital July 15, 2018. After a foot chase with the suspect, he was knocked down and shot repeatedly in the head and chest.
The suspect then shot and killed a 77-year-old woman with Chesna's weapon.
