A woman was found dead with "significant injuries" in a building behind a home in Stoughton, Massachusetts, Tuesday, authorities said.

No one has been arrested but what authorities have called an apparent homicide is believed to be an isolated incident, according to Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey. He asked for people who were in the area overnight to share with police anything they might have seen.

Morrissey and Stoughton's police chief didn't say whether they have any people they were focusing the investigation on or if any weapons were found. The victim was identified Tuesday night as 40-year-old Amber Buckner

The investigation centers on a building that Morrissey described as a kind of shed or rec room behind a home on Park Street near 5th Street. Residents at the home were cooperating, he said.

The death of a 40-year-old woman found in a building behind a Stoughton home is being investigated as a homicide.

Buckner has ties to the property but authorities wouldn't say whether she lived there. Several people are being questioned and police were conducting searches as they investigated what happened.

Asked why authorities had dubbed the incident an apparent homicide and not directly a homicide, Morrissey wouldn't go into detail, citing the investigation being in its early stages.

"It was obvious to officers at the time that the person had suffered some significant injuries," he said, adding it was "pretty simple for the police to figure out from what the have seen at this point."

Stoughton police had initially said the situation on Park Street near 5th Street was "an active crime scene," but didn't elaborate, beyond that there was not believed to be a threat to the public.
