Marathon Bombing Survivor Adrianne Haslet Hoping to Run Boston Marathon After Being Struck by Car

The Boston Marathon bombing survivor was hit by a car this weekend

The professional dancer who lost a leg in the Boston Marathon bombings is not giving up hope of running this year's race, despite being struck by a car over the weekend.

Adrianne Haslet is recovering at Boston Medical Center after being struck while in a crosswalk in the city's Back Bay neighborhood on Saturday night.

The driver told police he was turning and did not see Haslet because it was dark and rainy and she was wearing dark clothing.

Haslet had announced in October she had planned to run the 2019 Boston Marathon. She posted on Instagram Thursday she remains positive.

"I’ve been through worse. I can get through this throbbing pain, this deep anger, this hurdle," Haslet wrote. "I don’t know if I’m cleared to run this year, but until then, my head is staying in the game."

Haslet, who has been training with The Heartbreakers, wrote that through her last year of training she has become a faster runner and has had more fun than she has ever dreamed.

"I learned how to run in my new leg. I smashed so many goals as a result. My goals aren’t changing," she wrote.

Haslet said she learned Thursday that she would be released Friday night.

"I'll go by ambulance to in-patient rehab, where I'll be for weeks," she wrote on Instagram. "I'll spend all day working; learn how to cook, shower, dress, put my leg on, all one handed. I'll learn how to work out without compromising my injuries, and go to therapy for (even more) PTSD, basically working on me eight hours a day."

The driver struck Haslet was issued a citation for failing to stop for a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.
