Police in Brockton, Massachusetts, said they have determined that a report of an attempted kidnapping of a 12-year-old girl as she was leaving school Tuesday was fabricated.
The incident was reported to have occurred at Edgar B. Davis Community School on Plain Street, shortly after school let out at 3 p.m.

Brockton police said Wednesday morning that they investigated the report and determined it was fabricated and the victim admitted lying to police. They said charges might be filed against those who made the report.
