"I'm freaking out," said a next door neighbor who wished to remain anonymous. "It's a common thing that happens, but when it happens that close to you, it makes you think."

Police say that when they arrived they found a man, identified as 27 year-old Sederick Abreu, with a gunshot wound to the chest.

"Sederick was someone who everyone would want in their life. His sense of humor, beautiful smile curly hair and genuine self was always recognized in whatever room he was in," said Tiara Martin, a friend of Abreu. "He was down to Earth and a go-getter. I never in a million years thought this would happen."

Abreau was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to authorities.

The investigation is active and ongoing.
