The victim has been identified as 79-year-old Susan Frey of Gloucester. Police said based on evidence found on scene and in Frey's apartment, no foul play is suspected.

The vehicle didn't have a known connection to the address it was found at, authorities noted.

About an hour before the crash, a police officer in Rowley spotted the same vehicle across town, parked on Stackyard Road, according to the town's police chief. That officer reportedly spoke with the driver, determined the driver able to drive and gave them directions back to the road that would lead them home, the news release said.

The police officer followed the vehicle on Route 133 into Ipswich, before telling police in that community that the driver was passing through.

An investigation remains underway by Massachusetts State Police and the Rowley Police Department.
