"Ordinary America doesn't think this is OK. They want hands off," said Ellen, an organizer with Boston Indivisible.

This was one of more than 1,300 protests across all 50 states demanding an end to what organizers call tyranny and fascism.

"As our government is being pulled apart, we want to fight for it," said Dan Taylor, who is from Waltham.

The values they're fighting to resurrect were written on temporary tombstones at Boston's third oldest cemetery. They read, "Here lies free speech, social security, international alliances, cancer research, the global economy, due process, the constitution, checks and balances, reproductive rights, climate science, trans rights and education for all."

"I'm living in a time where my daughter is approaching less rights than I had and it's just a very scary time," said Aretha, who is from Worcester.

"It's absolutely insane. I'm 26! I'm tired of living through historical events. It's exhausting!" added Summi Kay, a Worcester resident.

Despite deep concerns for their country, people are finding comfort in community.

"I'm really, really proud of our Massachusetts family. I don't think there would be anywhere else I'd rather be even in the rain even in the weather rain or shine we're going to come out and support whatever we need to do," said Erin from Concord.

Organizers say millions of people turned out at protests like this one all across the country in the biggest protest since Trump took office.

Local Republican strategists though remain in support of President Trump's policies.

I think what we’ve seen again again is that when President Trump makes these big bold changes we are the beneficiaries," Wendy Wakeman, Mass. GOP strategist, said.
