Police are asking for the public's help in identifying two men in connection with an attempted kidnapping and robbery incident that occurred early last month in East Boston.

Boston police said the reported kidnapping and robbery occurred on Oct. 4 in the area of 155 Meridian St. They did not release any more details about the incident itself, saying only that they are still "actively reviewing the facts and circumstances" surrounding the case.

Police released four surveillance photos on Monday and are hoping someone will recognize the two men.

Sebastian Velasquez says investigators wanted security footage from the nearby cellphone repair and sales store where he works, adding that the store was broken into in a separate, unrelated incident just a couple weeks ago.

"Police came by, they asked for footage from security cameras, but I couldn't provide anything for the outside of the store, which we're working on because we got broke in again," he said. "It doesn't matter how many cameras you have, there's going to be more incidents."

Velasquez says it's the second time this year that it's happened to them.

"They broke the window, they broke like three display cases trying to get stuff but since last time, we are storing everything away like the valuables, cell phones, tablets." he said.

An employee at a nearby smoke shop down the street told NBC10 Boston that someone broke into their store more than a week ago.

"Since the police station moved, it was a couple blocks away, since they moved, it seems like there's been more and more incidents," he said, adding that he's frustrated by the crime.

Those who live nearby like Aashvi Shah say they plan to take more precautions when they leave their homes.

"I'm scared. Now I'm definitely not going anywhere. I'm taking an Uber no matter what because I don't feel safe anymore to get out of my house as a single girl and walk down the street at maybe 9 or 10 p.m.," she said.

Police have not released any other details surrounding the attempted kidnapping and robbery back in October. An investigation is active and ongoing.
