A standoff involving a person who was barricaded inside an apartment building in Boston's Allston neighborhood has come to an end after the suspect was found dead, police said Thursday morning.

According to Boston police, the incident on Western Avenue near North Harvard Street ended around 3 a.m., about 11 hours after it started.

There was no immediate word from police on the person's identity.

Details have been limited, but police had called it a very active scene when the incident was first reported about 4:12 p.m. Wednesday.

The building was evacuated, with police saying at the time that it was not clear whether the barricaded person had any weapons.

The apartment building, part of a development with a Trader Joe's grocery store, is near Harvard Stadium and the university's athletics complex, but is not part of the university.
