David Vasquez tells NBC10 Boston that he was one of the first people to see what happened.

“Earlier today we was going to pick up my kids from after school. Me and their mother seen the kid laying on the floor. His shirt was full of blood. He had his shoe a little distance from him covered in blood. He was trying to get up, we kept telling him to lay down,” he said

“I heard a couple people screaming 'help, help,' so we ran down to the end of the street and called the cops,” Vasquez added.

Students who live nearby said they were also shaken up by what happened.

“Hands and fingers in the middle of the road and a lot of people like did not know what happened,” one person shared. “I feel really stressed that this happened near my home. Just 20 meters.”

It was an act of violence too close for comfort -- and amongst the youth, which has become all too common.

“I feel like the younger generation they just don’t value life as much as we do, the older generation, so it’s a little chaotic,” Vasquez said.

No arrests have been made at this time. Investigators said they do not believe there is a threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to contact homicide detectives at 617-343-4470 or to make an anonymous tip to 1-800-494-TIPS.
