A transformer fire at an MBTA stop in Boston halted train service for the Commuter Rail as well as Amtrak on Monday.
All Amtrak and some MBTA commuter train service into Boston's South Station was halted Monday afternoon, the agencies said, citing "fire department activity."

WATCH HEREThe fire was reported about 3:45 p.m. at the Hyde Park Commuter Rail stop, according to Boston Fire District Chief Steven Fairneny. He said the explosion was heard by a police officer nearby, and that someone sent him a video of electrical arcing soon afterward.
Some train service was restored by early evening, but residual delays continued.
