Bomb threats have been called in to Shaw's supermarkets in the area, police in Canton, Massachusetts, said Wednesday, noting that the Cobb Corner location was among those affected.

They asked the public to avoid the area while they investigated — and later said the scene was cleared.

Other Shaw's locations around New England had bomb threats reported Wednesday.

Shaw's released a statement when asked about the threats, writing, "the safety of our customers and associates is our top priority, and we are in close contact with local authorities. At this time, all store locations are open and serving customers. Please reach out to the local police or fire department for further information."

More details about the nature of the threat weren't immediately available.
