A passenger who was inside that vehicle as it rolled toward the ocean, plunging into the water, described the chaos of the moment.
Gerry Cardona said he and the driver were trying to enjoy lunch. The driver got out of the Toyota Prius to throw out some trash - but the car wasn't in park. The vehicle started rolling, and despite Cardona's best efforts to stop it, it was out of control.

“The car started rolling, I tried stopping it - I couldn’t stop it. I grabbed the snow brush to try to stop it, and it wouldn’t stop. It stopped and then it went – kept going," Cardona said, wrapped in a towel as he tried to dry off.
"I rolled down the window, climbed out of the window and jumped in the water," he added.
Thankfully no one was hurt, but the car is a total loss.
