Driver Killed After Car Smashes Into Haverhill Carpet Shop, Authorities Say

An investigation into the crash remained underway Monday

The driver, who has not been identified, was traveling on Broadway when his car slammed into the KC Carpets store at 35 Lafayette Square, according to a news release from Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Haverhill Police Chief Robert Pistone.

A man was killed Monday morning after the car he was driving slammed into a building in Haverhill, Massachusetts, according to authorities.

The driver, who has been identified as 23-year-old Kevin Casado of Haverhill, was traveling on Broadway when his car slammed into the KC Carpets store at 35 Lafayette Square, according to a news release from Essex County District Attorney Paul F. Tucker and Haverhill Police Chief Robert Pistone.

The front half of the car was left crushed after slamming into the business.

According the news release, the driver was taken to Lawrence General Hospital, where he later died.

One man who was working at a convenience store across the street heard what happened and immediately went over to help.

"I heard the bang so I came out and called 911," Vipul Chopra said. "I ran outside and the car started on fire. So I ran back into the store and luckily we had fire extinguishers so I used it to put out the fire until the cops get there."

An investigation remained underway on Monday morning, involving both Haverhill Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstructions Section.
