Cohen toured the health center with local health officials, and spoke to news outlets about vaccines ahead of the winter respiratory virus season. She praised the Wittier Street Health Center, and its CEO Frederica Williams, for the services provided the community.

"The Whittier Street Health Center is unbelievably impressive," Dr. Cohen said. "Whether its the foundation in primary care, the incredible dental services, the integration of mental health... It is unbelievable. And that doesn't come without years of hard work, but incredible leadership."

Cohen said it's the time of year once again for people to roll up their sleeves and get flu and COVID shots to protect themselves and others against the viruses.

"And for the first time in history, we also have vaccines against RSV, which is another virus that circulates in the winter," Dr. Cohen said. "There are so many ways in which people can use the tools we have."
