A serious crash on Route 9 in Chestnut Hill is causing delays on Tuesday morning.
A pedestrian was killed Tuesday morning after being hit by a car along Route 9 in Newton, according to Massachusetts State Police.
A state police spokesperson said that a trooper witnessed the crash on his way to work and stopped to help.

Several other agencies responded as well. The vehicle involved remained on scene.
The left travel lanes in both directions were closed down as a result.

Our crew saw police on scene, and an SUV with a broken windshield.
MassDOT said shortly before 7 a.m. that the left lane of Route 9 westbound was closed down at 250 Boylston. That's near the Chestnut Hill Mall.
Additional information was not immediately available, including the identity of the victim or what led to the crash.
