Her 26-year-old son, Grant DeGiacomo, is charged with recklessly causing her death "under circumstances manifesting an extreme indifference to the value of human life by repeatedly striking her head," according to a news release.

Grant DeGiacomo is due in Hillsborough Superior Court Friday. It wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney who could speak to the charge.

The incident was reported about 9:44 p.m., and officers sent to the scene found the stricken woman. She was due to undergo an autopsy, authorities said.

Grant DeGiacomo was at the home when police arrived Wednesday night and was detained, a representative for the New Hampshire Attorney General's Office told NBC10 Boston. He was arrested Thursday morning.

Police tape still surrounded the building, on a cul-de-sac, Thursday morning.

Authorities initially announced the incident as a suspicious death investigation, and said there was no apparent threat to the general public.
