Worker Injured in 30-Foot Fall at Boston Construction Site

A worker fell 30 feet at a construction site in Boston’s South End; a day earlier, three workers were hurt at a site in South Boston.

Emergency crews responded to an incident at a construction site in Boston on Thursday morning.

Boston police said the incident was reported around 10:46 a.m. in the area of 100 East Canton St.

Boston fire said a construction worker fell about 30 feet and was taken to an area hospital by Boston EMS. The worker's condition was not immediately nkown.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was also called in to investigate.

Aerial video showed a large construction site with multiple cranes. At least one Boston police cruiser could be seen parked outside.

People who live in the area say they heard workers screaming and saw the first responders rush in.

"It is heartbreaking. I mean, they work so hard, and it's such a dangerous job," said one woman who was visiting family on East Canton Street Thursday. "You just hope that they use all the safety precautions and try to ensure that the workers are safe."

The incident happened just a day after three workers were injured in a construction collapse at a former power plant in South Boston.
