Firefighter Injured, Residents and Pets Saved From 3-Alarm Fire in Dorchester

A fire claimed two three-deckers in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood, leaving nine residents homeless and a firefighter injured.

One firefighter was injured and two buildings in Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood damaged in an overnight 3-alarm fire.

Nine residents and a total of six pets were able to escape from their triple-decker homes after they were engulfed in flames. As firefighters battled the blaze, several wires nearby began to spark.

A firefighter was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, officials said.

Fire crews are investigating the cause of the blaze.

As a result of the investigation, Boston Street and West Howell Street are closed.

Fire officials are staying at the scene to keep watch for hot spots.
