The fire extended to a nearby building, officials noted online, adding that an “aggressive interior and exterior attack” helped to stop the fire from spreading to a third building.

A heavy fire was burning early Monday morning at a triple-family home that was under renovation in the Mattapan section of Boston.

Video posted by the Boston Fire Department showed serious damage to the home on Woolson Street, as well as flames burning on the upper floor. The fire had burned through the back porches and across the roof.

The fire extended to a nearby building, officials noted online, adding that an "aggressive interior and exterior attack" helped to stop the fire from spreading to a third building.

A home with a Sutton Street address, though, had its siding melted due to extreme heat.

The home under renovation where the fire started was unoccupied, and is likely a total loss, fire officials said on scene. The fire may have spread so fast due to the fact that a lot of walls were open, allowing the flames to move through the home. An added challenge was construction debris throughout the building.

Thirteen people, including several kids, had to evacuate from the nearby home that the fire spread to.

One firefighter had to be taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Back up crews would be at the scene throughout the morning checking for hot spots.
