Heavy smoke and flames are seen pouring from the street in downtown Lowell, Massachusetts, in an apparent transformer fire.
Aerial video showed large clouds of black smoke and heavy flames coming what appeared to be a transformer or dumpster in the area of Warren Street around 2:45 p.m.

Firefighters had just arrived at the scene.
A spokesperson says National Grid is investigating the cause of the fire and made the scene safe for first responders by cutting power to the transformer.

About 120 customers were left without power, National Grid said.
