First responders were investigating a white GMC Envoy at the scene. Traffic was backed up for miles. Multiple northbound and southbound lanes had to be closed during the crash investigation. All lanes reopened by 12:40 p.m.

Police initially said only that a man was found dead at the scene of the crash, between exits 2 and 3, and that the car was traveling south, but ended up on the other side of the highway.

In an update Wednesday, state police identified the victim as Matthew Woo, 51, of Allenstown, NH.

According to police, first responders found the Envoy on its side, partially in the left lane of I-93 north. Woo had been thrown from the vehicle, suffering fatal injuries.

Investigators determined Woo was driving on the southbound side of the highway when his Envoy sideswiped a flatbed style Mack truck, causing his SUV to go off the road and roll over through the media before coming to a rest on the opposite side of the highway.

The Mack truck driver, identified as Giani Cancellieri, 31, of Brookline, New Hampshire, remained on scene and was not injured in the collision, police said.

The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under investigation. Anyone who witnessed it, or who may have dash camera footage, is asked to contact police at 603-223-8760.
