A person was shot Thursday night in Boston's Jamaica Plain neighborhood, police say.

Neighbors in the area tell NBC10 Boston they heard about six to eight gunshots.

"I look out my window, which faces the alleyway, and I see something maybe on the ground, and I'm not quite sure what it is, and then like a minute later, the police show up," said one man, who did not give his name. "As soon as the cops arrived, I was like, 'Oh god, this is not happening.'"

Dozens of evidence placards were scattered on the ground at the scene near the enVision Hotel, where police found a dark-colored car with a passenger side window riddled with bullet holes.
