He was sentenced to six to seven years in prison.

The district attorney's office filed a nolle prosequi, or a formal notice of prosecutors dropping all or part of a legal action, on five other counts regarding Jeremiah Oliver, including kidnapping, assault and battery on a child, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and reckless endangerment of a child.

The nolle prosequi for the charges involving Jeremiah Oliver will allow the ongoing investigation into his death to continue, according to the district attorney's office.

The Fitchburg boy was last seen alive in September 2013 but wasn't reported missing until December of that year. His body was found off I-190 in Sterling in April 2014.

Elsa Oliver was also charged with assault and reckless endangerment in connection with the case.

The DA's office is expected to release more information Wednesday afternoon.
