NBC10 Boston and necn anchor Joy Lim Nakrin hosted the Philippine Independence Day Gala in Randolph, Massachusetts Saturday evening at Lombardo’s.
The community celebrated the 121st anniversary of the independence of the Philippines. The gala was sponsored by the Philippine American Mainstream Advocacy for Nonpartisan Associates Inc. (PAMANA).
The gala raised money for Filipino cultural preservation, mentorship and the victims of the April 22 earthquake that killed 11 people in the northern Philippines.
The coronation of Miss Philippine Independence New England 2019 was also held with Jennica Mateo earning the title. Keynote speakers included Rear Admiral Andrew Tiongson, a Filipiono-American who leads the New England-area U.S. Coast Guard.
