Police officers arriving at the scene entered the home to ensure that all residents were safely out. Once they confirmed everyone was safe, they retreated from the home.

Additional resources were called in soon after firefighters arrived due to fire burning in hidden spaces and internal staircases and floors being burned out. The wind and freezing temperatures helped the fire spread and created icy conditions on the ground.

The fire was contained to the initial structure and no residents or firefighters were injured.

A Medford police officer suffered a minor injury while clearing the home and has since been treated and released.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
