A man charged with killing a Google employee from New York who went missing while out for a run in Massachusetts is getting a new lawyer.
A judge approved a motion from the court-appointed defense team for Angelo Colon-Ortiz to withdraw from the case Thursday.
Lawyer Louis Aloise says Colon-Ortiz felt that he and attorney Edward Ryan Jr. were not working in the man's best interest, and it became clear during a Jan. 9 meeting that there was an "irretrievable breakdown'' in their relationship.
Colon-Ortiz has pleaded not guilty to a murder charge in the death of 27-year-old Vanessa Marcotte.
Marcotte was visiting her mother in Princeton, Massachusetts in 2016 when she failed to return from a run. Her body was found hours later in the nearby woods.
