Vilian Spasov said he was on his way to work when he backed out of his driveway minutes before 7 a.m., and then lost control of the car and came around the corner on Harvard Street in reverse, crashing through a fence and into his neighbor’s porch.
“I’m just happy there was nobody in the street and that nobody got hurt,” said Spasov. “It looks like the gas pedal got stuck and the whole car went like crazy back there.”
Luckily, Michael McGoff was not near the entrance to his home when the crash happened.
“I couldn’t believe it when i came out of the front of the house this morning. I was going to open the front door and I saw the whole thing,” said McGoff. “It’s shocking.”
At first McGoff didn’t make much of the loud bang.
“I was asleep and everybody was trying to call me,” he said. “I didn’t even hear it.”
But his neighbor Jannene Levesque heard it all.
“We were in bed and we heard a bang and it sounded like the 30-yard dumpsters that get dropped off right over there in the corner because they’re doing house construction down the road,” said Levesque.
Residents on Harvard Street said they felt pretty lucky, despite the scare.
“Normally I’m walking the dog at that time and I decided to take a lazy morning and good thing I did,” said Levesque.
“I feel lucky that nobody is hurt you know,” reiterated Spasov. “That there’s no victims.“
Neighbors also said they’re fortunate the crash didn’t happen when kids get picked up to go to school. Meanwhile, another neighbor pointed out that his roommate usually parks right in the spot where Spasov’s car drove through the fence.
McGoff won’t be able to access his front door for a while, but he’s grateful that’s his only worry for now.
