According to the district attorney's office, on Sept. 7, 2021, Barnstable police received a 911 call around 10:25 a.m. reporting an unresponsive infant. Responding officers found the baby unresponsive, discolored, and cool to the touch. Life-saving measures were performed as the 6-week-old was taken to Cape Cod Hospital. The baby was later transferred via medical helicopter to a Boston area hospital, where they died.
Other details about the case were not released on Sunday, including where or when Patterson-Gerber was arrested, but District Attorney Robert Galibois said in a statement that he deeply appreciates the work conducted by the state police violent apprehension fugitive unit, and the Falmouth and Dedham police departments in arresting him.
