A man was shot and killed by police at a residence in Northwood, New Hampshire, on Tuesday morning, according to the attorney general's office.
A Northwood police officer was also injured in the incident at a home along Route 4, officials said. It wasn't immediately clear how, but he was expected to survive.

The man who was killed was identified as Malcolm Burns, 34, authorities said. Officers were called to the scene for a report of domestic violence involving Burns and his father.

It wasn't immediately clear if Burns' father was hurt in the incident; when the officer arrived about 5:17 a.m. and went inside the home, authorities said, he and Burns were involved in an altercation, which led to the officer fatally shooting Burns, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
During an autopsy Wednesday, authorities determined the cause of Burns' death to be a single gunshot wound to the abdomen, with the manner of death being deemed homicide, according to the office of Attorney General John Formella.
Burns' body was scheduled to undergo an autopsy Wednesday, at which time more information was expected to be released.
The name of the officer involved in the incident was being withheld pending the conclusion of a formal interview.
The circumstances surrounding the incident remain under active investigation, the attorney general's office said.
Northwood is about halfway between Concord and Portsmouth.
