Armed man shot, killed by police outside of home in NH, authorities say

The attorney general says the names of the officers are being withheld pending "the conclusion of formal interviews"

An armed man was shot and killed by police in Kensington, New Hampshire, Monday night, the Attorney General's Office said.

While following up on a mental health call at about 12:05 p.m. from the previous night, an officer received information about a man in a home on Olivia Lane threatening another occupant.

When officers arrived, an hours-long standoff ensued, the Attorney General's Office said.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., during an encounter with the armed man, six police officers shot him, authorities said.

"Life saving measures were attempted at the scene, but the male suffered lethal injuries and died," said the Attorney General's Office.

No other injuries were reported, the Attorney General's Office said, adding that there's no threat to the public.

The man's name wasn't immediately released.

The attorney general says the names of the officers will not be "disclosed until formal interviews take place."

The shooting remains under investigation.
