3 hurt in small plane crash in Vermont

The injuries are not life-threatening, fire officials said

Three people were hurt when a small plane crashed on a mountain in Manchester, Vermont, on Wednesday morning, NBC affiliate WPTZ-TV reports.

Manchester fire officials said the plane crashed on Equinox Mountain around 8:30 a.m. The pilot was able to call 911 after the crash. The three people on the plane were airlifted from the crash to local hospitals for treatment. Their injuries were not life-threatneing.

The plane crashed around 3,200 feet up the mountain, and rescuers had to contend with 4 and 5-foot high snow to reach the victims.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate.
