Massport officials gave an update on holiday travel at Boston Logan International Airport on Wednesday, ahead of what's expected to be a tough few days for airlines.
With lots of travelers expected at the airport and the possibility of delays and cancellations — the forecast for Friday promises to wreak havoc on air travel both in Boston and across the country — people heading to Logan were urged to arrive two hours early for domestic flights and three hours early for international flights

"Please allow extra time getting to Logan, through the security process," Massport Director of Aviation Ed Freni said, noting that public transit may make travel to the airport easier as well.
"We hope you have a great flight and great travel," he added.

On Wednesday, the airport shared a recommendation for passengers: "reach out to their airlines regarding their travel plans," since many are offering waivers and there are expected to be "system-wide disruptions" Thursday and Friday.
Logan had 20 cancellations listed on FlightAware's Misery Map late Wednesday morning. Adebayo Odebunmi and his family were among the unlucky ones stuck at the airport and looking for new flights.
"They're gonna charge about $99 per person," he said. "That's a lot of money."
Other travelers at the airport Wednesday had already moved up their flights.
Massport expects more than 1 million people to come through Logan between Dec. 19 and Jan. 2 — more than last year, but shy of 2019, the last holiday season before the pandemic, officials said.
