They said 46-year-old Calvin Stokes, of Mattapan, was arrested around 3 a.m. following a traffic stop in Roslindale in connection with the incident, which appears to have stemmed from a domestic violence situation.

Court documents described a struggle, with a knife grabbed from the kitchen. The victims had various shots to their arms and legs, and Stokes' significant other had multiple gunshot wounds to her torso.

Stokes was arraigned Tuesday in Dorchester District Court on charges of being an armed career criminal, four counts of assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a knife, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm subsequent office, unlawful possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling. He has pleaded not guilty.

A neighbor who declined to go on camera told NBC10 Boston they've seen the family and described the incident as a"family issue" that started several days ago.

“They’re usually hanging outside or like Easter they were taking pictures.”

Stokes is being held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing set for early next week.
