MBTA Orange, Green Line Shutdown: Live Updates, Maps, Schedule and News

Monday was the first weekday commute impacted by the 30-day closure of the Orange Line and portions of the Green Line but the biggest challenges still lie ahead.

NBC Universal, Inc.

With service stopped on the Orange Line and the new Green Line extension, people across Boston are adjusting.

The first big test of the MBTA's 30-day closure of the Orange Line came Monday, when tens of thousands of people attempting to commute to work and school were forced to seek alternate routes, including the commuter rail, shuttle, buses and even bikes.

Complicating matters is the fact that at 5 a.m. Monday, the partial closure of the Green Line also began.

There have been no major incidents reported so far, but the shutdown is far from over and the challenge of move-in day and back-to-school traffic lies ahead. NBC10 Boston will continue to follow the story and check in with commuters throughout the 30-day closure.
