A motorcyclist was killed in a crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike Monday night, according to officials.
The single-vehicle crash occurred in Boston's Allston neighborhood, near the area of Boston University around 10:30 p.m., Massachusetts State Police said.

According to a preliminary investigation, Mark Ganong, 54, of Waltham, was driving a Harley Davidson eastbound on Interstate 90 when he lost control and struck the median.
Ganong was pronounced dead on scene, police said.

The left lanes of I-90 were closed in both directions near the scene of the crash for approximately four hours to accommodate the investigation. Boston Fire and Boston EMS, as well as the medical examiner's office, all responded.
The fatal crash remains under investigation.
