A woman is dead after being hit by a vehicle Friday in Norwood, Massachusetts.

Norwood police and the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office said the crash happened around 5:30 p.m.at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Garfield Avenue.

The victim, an 80-year-old Norwood woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. She has since been identified as Ellen Kana, of Norwood.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. No charges were immediately filed.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No other information is being released at this time.
