One man is dead and another is hurt after a crash in Pinkham's Grant, New Hampshire, Saturday night that shut down Route 16 for several hours.
New Hampshire State Police say troopers responded just before 6 p.m. to the crash near 467 Route 16 and found a Chevrolet Cruze and a Chevrolet Suburban.

A preliminary investigation by the state police collision analysis and reconstruction unit determined that the Cruze -- driven b y Mark Taillon, was traveling northbound on Route 16 when it crossed the double solid yellow lines and struck the southbound-traveling Suburban that was being driven by Peter Canty.
Canty, 77, of Jackson, was pronounced dead on scene, police said. Taillon, of Gorham, sustained only minor injuries in the collision.

Route 16 was closed in both directions for approximately four hours while the crash was investigated and debris was cleared from the scene. Police initially released limited information about the crash Saturday night, saying only that the roadway was closed and that drivers should avoid the area if possible.
Police haven't said what they believe caused the fatal crash. All aspects remain under investigation at this time.
