Boston police say an incident on Glenville Avenue left one person dead; officers arrested a suspect after a chase

A man led officers on a foot chase and tried to steal a car, according to police.

Editor's note: Boston police initially described the incident as a case of domestic violence, but later said the nature of the incident remains under investigation.

Boston police are investigating the death of one person Monday night in Allston and arrested another after a chase.

Officers responded just after 7:45 p.m. to a 911 call on Glenville Avenue, Deputy Supt. Paul McLaughlin of the Boston Police Department said at a press conference, describing the incident as "likely a domestic." A female victim was found dead in an apartment.

After police arrived at the apartment, a man broke a window, leaving the building and fleeing on foot, McLaughlin said.

Police used a stun gun as the man, whose name has not been released, led officers on a chase through yards in the area. McLaughlin said he was put in handcuffs after trying to steal a car.

At least one weapon was recovered, McLaughlin said without describing it.

Police were continuing to process the scene late Monday night.

They said Tuesday morning that the suspect remains hospitalized, and no arraignment is scheduled.

No further information was immediately available.
