A person has life-threatening injuries after a crash involving a car and an electric scooter in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

Boston police say officers responded around 3:06 p.m. to the area of Northampton and Washington streets for a report of a motor vehicle accident and found one victim critically injured.

The victim was taken to a local hospital, and there was no immediate update on their condition.

According to police, homicide detectives and the fatal reconstruction team were notified and were responding to the scene, where an electric scooter was lying on the ground near a red car that had sustained significant damage to the driver side door and front windshield.

A helmet also appeared to be lying in the roadway. Police haven't shared any more information at this point.

An investigation is ongoing.
