A person is dead after being struck by a train on Cape Cod as Labor Day comes to an end.
Bourne police said around 8 p.m. Monday that they are investigating the fatal incident involving a train hitting a person in the area of Aptucxet Trading Post and Perry Ave.

MBTA Transit police later confirmed they are actively investigating what happened but said it preliminarily appears a woman intentionally entered the right of way around 7:45 p.m. and was struck by a Cape Flyer train.

She died on scene from her injuries.
"On behalf of the TPD and the entire MBTA organization we express our sincerest condolences to the decedent's family, friends and loved ones," transit police said in a statement.
Officials later said the person is believed to have died by suicide.
